help with a GM hei on 351w
 
a buddy of mine just got a gm style distributor and has gotten it installed to replace the old corroded one. the issue we are having is that neither of us had remembered to write down the firing order or the distributor position before the swap, so is there anyone who has also done this swap and can provide pics? a crude drawing would also suffice for the time being. i've came across a few different firing orders and none of them worked so i'm kinda stuck. if any vehicle info is needed its an 83 bronco 5.8L with an automatic. ill try to provide as much detail as possible before the vehicle is towed tomorrow.

Tried that and still nothing

try this if it's got a rotor
if your sure the dist. is in correct
bring #1 up to TDC on compression (both valves closed)
rotor is now pointing to the #1 position on dist.

according to the dist. above my #1 is at the #2 position

I'll have to start from scratch then. I'm pretty sure it's the fact we aren't on TDC for cylinder 1 but the cold isn't helping when I try to rotate the motor

Pull the spark plugs, then the engine is easy to turn over with a socket and breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt. Also, use the timing marks to help you find TDC, they only line up when #1 is at TDC, you just have to determine if it's on the compression stroke or the exhaust stroke.
