Lightbulb How to Repair a Dim Headlight

How to Repair a Dim Headlight
Simply clean the ground connection to restore the brightness of dim headlights. And apply a little dielectric grease.

Disassemble the connection, clean it with a wire brush, scotch-brite or sandpaper and reassemble it. Coat the parts with dielectric grease to slow down corrosion.

Most folks think they've got a bad headlight switch or a bad connection in the power feed, which can also be the case. But most dim headlights are caused by a corroded ground wire. Just trace the wiring harness from the back of each headlight assembly and see where it connects to the vehicle body. Clean it as said above.

on another note it is very important to have a good ground connection for trailer lighting.

Yeah the trailer wiring.... I had a problem one time where the ground was arching and causing all my lights to flash dim and bright over and over..

Good tip J!

When Christ was on earth, the dogwood grew
To a towering size with a lovely hue.
Its branches were strong and interwoven
And for Christ's cross its timbers were chosen

Being distressed at the use of the wood
Christ made a promise which still holds good:
"Not ever again shall the dogwood grow
To be large enough for a tree, and so

Slender and twisted it shall always be
With cross-shaped blossoms for all to see.
The petals shall have bloodstains marked brown
And in the blossom's center a thorny crown.

All who see it will think of Me,
Nailed to a cross from a dogwood tree.
Protected and cherished this tree shall be
A reflection to all of My agony."

most folks rely on the ball to hitch contact only and that can cause all sorts of lighting quirks

I ground mine to a bumper bolt or license plate bolt from behind, it was just ancient wiring.

I've always said that a good negative (ground) connection is just as important as a good positive connection. There's no better way to see the difference than on a headlight. Good post JS.
