Default 4x4 Issues - 97

As much as this pains me, since I find myself generally able to diagnose and fix my own prolbems, I need help.

Problem # 1: Will not engage 4x4 hi, or lo.
Problem # 2: After I get a 4x4 light (no front engagement though), I am unable to make any transfer case shifts at all. its stuck in 2wd, with the front axle actuator pulling vacuum to engage front axle and the 4x4 light is on.

with the fact i am unable to command any other shifts, i suspect GEM failure (or possible relay that im unknowledgable of)

sure sounds like a vacuum issue
does it make any grinding sounds, like gears not meshing??
or sound when you turn??

I'm less concerned with the actuator and shift fork on the front diff, It works at times and i know i can fix that easily.

I cant get the GEM to act correctly, i cant get it to respond to any commands after the first attempt. the switch checked out fine for ohms.

I hear relays click, but no actual engagement. Because it doesnt respond to commands I cant differentiate between GEM or shift motor.

Just fromt he first post I am going to guess its the shifter motor... it does NOT have to engage to get a light...

that or your chains in the T-case a gone...

can you hear the shift like your supposed to? i'n my 05 I can hear the motor shift the t-case gears

Klitch won't sleep until the trucks fixed ( :

Feel relay 17 for heat, heat = bad relay.

Iduno, like I've said before, when the GEM is confused, it defaults to the easy chair. Does nothing.

Hope you get her fixed brother.

Yes its late lol hence i went to bed...

Relay 17 is that the one under the dash behind and above the radio? judging by the schematics JMC sent me.

Gotta get info before I get time to actually pick at the truck.

Wait a minute, I'm showing MAXI fuse 17 under the hood? Hang on I'll double check that so I don't mess you up.

Yep, I show a MAXI fuse (30A**) in the PDB under the hood, #17. Count 3 down in row one/ -closest to the front of the truck.

Descript= Shift on the Fly Relay, Transfer Case Shift Relay.
