On 18 Oct
the wind was perfect, I caught this guy sneaking out of his bedding area this afternoon around 5:45
Rifle Season started yesterday; I'm still using the Bow & MUZZY 3 Blade 100gr; that's the exit hole, he was quartering toward me at 28 yards .
cold front came in yesterday and it's got the Deer on the move, going back out in the morning

19 Oct
I killed Bambi (a good meat Doe) it was 38F that AM, she is now sleeping in the cooler
normally I would not shoot a Doe as most still have little ones tagging along
I watched her come in from far off and she milled around for over 30 minutes, never seen a Fawn even though she was full of milk; I'm thinking the Yotes may have killed her baby

62" 'White Wolf' Beowulf Recurve, at 16 yards

Good Morning Y'all
I slept in today
sitting in a tree each morning gets old
this is my favorite spot and a good Bow Stand
I may not even pick up a rifle this season

one day they'll make a damper that cancels all of the string noise. but hell,...that night take all the fun out of it. better luck tomorrow.

found him piled up next to a root ball from a blown down tree
he circled around and went over 200 yards, the arrow was still in him, I pulled it further out for the photo, what you see is how it was when he ran off, he buried it running through the tress and it was sticking out his stomach, the broadhead got knocked off somewhere

the first time ever that an arrow did not pass through
never seen any blood except where he died, cut the antlers off
the meat was ruined, temps have been warm in the daytime; he was covered with green flies

I set some leg hold traps around the carcass
cut off both shoulders and tied them up to a tree and put traps around the tree

well, I screwed up the set
either the lock came open or some how in the struggle the lock came over and out of the triangle handle, as the opening gap is large enough to let the lock slip out
been doing it this way for years, now there is no more gap, hammered it shut

the trap, filter paper, chain & lock are nowhere to be found
could not find any sign in the pine straw as to which way he went
circled round & round increasing my distance, nothing
look for about 2 hours, I did see some things I haven't seen before (deer sign & trails)
