glc, thanks for the insite on these engines.
My next question is do the f-250 2004-2008 have the same issues as the F-150? My apologies for asking this question in the wrong forum.

Thanks

The 1999-2004 Super Duty had a 2 valve 5.4 and 2 valve 6.8 V10. Only issue is spark plug blowout, which 28 ft/lb torque solves. The 5.4 was a bit underpowered in that truck. The 6.8 is a big gas hog.

In 2005, both the 5.4 and 6.8 went 3 valve, with the 2 piece sticky plugs. The 5.4 has VCT but the 6.8 does not.

An older one with the 7.3 diesel is a good engine, the later ones with 6.0 diesel are garbage.

In 2008, the 5.4 and 6.8 were carried over, the diesel was replaced with a 6.4 which also had issues.

In 2011, the only engines available were a 6.2 V8 gas and 6.7 V8 diesel, both good engines.
