Decoding a 1978-1979 Bronco VIN number

Series: U15 = U-100 Wagon

Engine: H = 351 Mci 5.8L V8 2BC

Plant: L = Michigan

Build Month: A7891 = August of 1978

I hope this helps.

The 1978-79 Broncos, the VIN plate is attached to the rear face of the
driver’s door. The information (VIN nmbr.) on the tag only identifies the
Series, Engine, Assembly Plant, Month, Year and Production Sequence.

Example: U15 H L A 78 91

U15= 4 wheel drive Bronco Wagon

S= 6.6L 400

L= Michigan truck

You're consecutive unit number(the CG2449) is just fine, it's AE0,001 to CK9,999 for a 1978 Bronco.
