Default Smog pump R & R on 1996 F-150 4.9L

I joined club today as was having problem R & R ing my smog pump. Ford uses a sliding bushing on top thru bolt holding smog pump onto mounting bracket as well as an additional bolt on bottom rear side of pump. I was having a problem fitting pump into top space between bushing and mounting bracket. SOLUTION: I put a bolt thru sliding bushing long enough to accommodate a 9/16 quarter inch socket. I then tightened bold down enough to pull sliding bushing towards front of mounting bracket. This allowed the smog pump's top mounting to slide in. Then when tightening down the mounting "thru bolt" into mounting bracket it brought the sliding busing to the proper distance to align smog pump with serpentine belt pathway. I posted this because I have not seen this procedure discussed anywhere as far as dealing with these sliding bushings or spacer bushings. Hope this helps someone else

Thanks for the tip. I'm sure somebody will be asking the same question someday, and they will find your cure for their problem.
