Default Hello from Central NJ

Hello all,

I picked up a 1990 F150 XLT about a year ago. There's not a straight or unscratched panel on her, but no rust or rot and she fires up every time!

I've got the 5.0L 302, 4x4, and the AOD transmission.

She's needed a little bit of attention - done rear axle seals already, rear brakes and new lines at all four corners are on deck. Currently I'm in the process of removing the upper intake manifold to get to the leaky valve covers.

Looking forward to learning more about this vehicle and getting her back into fighting shape!

Thanks! It is a bit uncommon ... many of the older 4x4s around here get plow duty and the salt really eats them up. And they usually live out their last days doing landscaping. This one is well used, but not abused.

My truck definitely needs some work, but nothing too major. It'll be a good learning experience for me. I have experience with metric motorcycles and import cars, so I did already have to buy a whole new set of tools for this truck!

to FTC! We need pics of the truck!! One thing you might consider later down the road is a cam swap from flat tappet to roller cam. There are a few members here whom are like JSoko said, knowledgeable about the 302/351w engines.

Nice! I hear you on the rust issues, I'm from jersey too and there are a lot of em with rust problems! Luckily my Bronco escaped without any of it over the wheels, which is a common area for it.
