Default AOD or E4OD?

My 91 single cab, long bed, 4x4, F-150 that I recently did the motor swap in originally had a fuel injected 302 with an automatic transmission. Is there away I can tell which of the 2 autos it was by looking at the transmission? It originally had an "OD Off" button on the dash to the right of the steering column. It's also a single fuel tank truck. Not sure if any of that helps or not.

If it has the button, it's a E4OD. Quadrant should say PRND21. AOD quadrant is PRN(D)D1.

E4OD pan is shaped like the state of Utah. AOD pan is rectangular.

Thanks for your quick response and knowledge GLC. I found an E4OD at a local bone yard for $400. Think I might put one back in the truck. Just wanted to make sure the truck's computer would be happy.

I think it has to be out of a same generation F150 4x4 with a 4.9, 302, or 351W. Other configurations will probably not work. There's bellhousing patterns and tailshaft configurations to deal with.

I'm gonna measure the bellhousing bolt pattern before I buy it. As long as it has the tail shaft extension for a transfer case is still on it, I'm confident the t-case bolt right up. I still have the t-case that was on the auto originally.

If you are going to buy a used transmission, I would suggest having a transmission shop take a look at it before you install it. Nothing like installing it and it needs to be rebuilt. Its money well spent.
