Default efi 302

i think the egr is going on my 1989 bronco 302 efi. it revs around 800 rpm at the lowest rpm. wont come down that last few revs. only the second efi ive had.. does this sound right.....

I moved your thread, that was the introduction forum. Usually when the EGR goes bad, the truck REV's up not down, and 5/10 times you'll have a CEL.

oops. it does rev high then takes a while to come down, but wont come down all the way.. if i apply vacuum to the egr it comes down.. i dont now if its the solenoid switch or egr or ???????

The EVR/EVP solenoid on top might be bad. Have you pulled codes yet to see what all codes you have?

dont have a code reader yet... recomend a good brand for me..thanks glen

The EGR should not be open (receiving vacuum) at idle. Something else is causing the high idle. EGR opens when you are at high ways speeds not idle. I'd start by checking the IAC, TPS, and look for vacuum leaks. Might as well get the easy things to check out of the way first.

thanks ill check again for vacuum leaks and find out how to check the iac and tps thanks glen..
