Default sas which axle will be best

Im looking into doing a sas but not sure which axle i would like to go with. In the future i would like some 40" maybe a bit bigger. Would a d44 be sufficient or will i need something stronger? Torsion Bar or a 4link?

What's the truck you will be working on? For 40's+ you should go one ton.

Any of the ford dana 60's 97 and earlier would work best, depending on what truck you are working with. Some back ground info will help.

all depends on what you want to do with the truck... since you live in miami, im assuming the truck will get used for mudding. like russo said, any of the pre-97 dana 60's... with anything over a 37 inch tire you want to use one ton's... now radius arm or 4 link? you can modify a leaf sprung dana 60 to work with radius arms. but for mudding, i would go with a leaf sprung front end for simplicity. i went with 4 link for my SAS and yes it was expensive! but it rides like a dream on the interstate and offroad. my truck will eventually be used for rock crawling in Tennessee/GA which is why i went with 4-link... but if you want a bolt on setup and easy install radius arm and dana 44 setup is almost 100% bolt on... 4 link requires a lot of grinding, cutting, and welding. leaf springs require a little bit of welding.

i also noticed you have a reg-cab, short bed, one issue you WILL have is drive shaft angle issues with anything over 8 inches of lift another thing to consider...

like our mechanic at work says: "how deep are your pockets and how fast you wana go?"
