Default 1955 F 100 interior door & Window Handles which are best clips or set screws ?

Hello : Ed from Bayville N.J.- sort of a Newbie to Classic Ford Trucks, Interior Doors have the Card board panels, want to change same.
The Handles have set screws which are sort of Buggered up.
I will have to replace the door shafts.
Going forward which is best Clips or Set screws ?
Also any Tricks with the set screws, like drilling a starting hole in the shaft ?
Thanks
