Hey Darwin333,

Don't know if you're still around, but I thought I might reply to your questions.

#1: That is the weather boot that covers the nut for the connection. I guess I got discombopulated in my description. I actually removed that wire one wire from the alternator to the battery and replaced it with the 1/0 wire.

#2: I'll have to look in the service manual, take pictures or something, then post in here on how the air filter box can be removed. I'll try and get that posted soon.

(Yes, I know his post is from 2014....)
