Default Engine shut off.

I have 1983 F150, 351W, with stock ignition, Edelbrock intake and Holley 4 barrel carb. I replaced the lifter, pushrods and rocker arms, rebuilt the card and added a Mallory coil. The truck ran great for a couple of weeks. On my way to work , the alternator light came on, then went off, less then a minute later the engine quit. I had a stock coil and ignition control module(the one mounted on the fender, without success. I cannot confirm both were good. I am planning to replace the coil, ignition control and pickup coil with brand new parts. Could the powertrain control module,(the one under the seat), be the problem? If so, is there a way to test it to confirm it is faulty?
