Not necessarily, but they are fairly common and there's a lot of info out there on it. A 7.3 and transmission swap would probably be relatively easy.

Hmmmm...now I am torn as to what to do. I have been reading that doing a 7.3 swap would be a pain in the ass

Not impossible though, because the 7.3 was an option in your truck. That means that parts to physically install it shouldn't be difficult to find.

You are right. I have been reading conflicting stores, some say it's hell, some say it cant happen and some say it's easy.
I was hoping to be able to use my current transmission and transfer case as I just dumped all this cash into having them rebuilt.
