Default 1985 Ford Bronco wont hold a charge

The truck has been sitting for awhile but it used to run very well. Then it developed a problem of loosing charge and dying while driving. Now it wont even start. The alternator was the first place I looked and the battery the second. They both are fine. Where do I go from here? Starter? Is there any common problems like this with the Bronco? I need to get this thing running FAST.

On some vehicles there is a charge regulator external on the alternator. If that is bad it will not charge the battery.

Were the alternator and battery replaced? If it is starting and then not holding a charge, then it is not the starter I would guess. Maybe LI hit the nail on the head hopefully. Good luck and let us know what happens.

unless a current drain has occured while it was sitting up, maybe something chewed into the wires
if the battery checks ok UNDER LOAD forget it
and we all know the altanator provides the juice for accessories and charging the battery
it seems like it is the problem
take it off and go to a shop that can check it on their bench
you got me courious now

Agree, alternator, starter has NOTHING to do with it. Good luck!

take the cables off the battery now, sounds like you got a drain
check all accessories; you may have the interior lights turned on, the dash lights on, the cig lighter, back uplights, radio, some accessory , pull some fuses
