Post 6G Alt for 2008 F150

So, I got the packaged today!

But not is all well. Upon taking the alt out of the box, a piece of red plastic comes out... hmmm, this can't be good. So upon closer inspection I find this:

UPS must have dropped it somewhere in transit. I've contacted RJM about this, seeing if they can send a replacement stud extension.

Aside from that, here's some profile shots of the alt:

This alternator will replace the OEM 110amp alt. The reason behind having a bigger alt, is to solve a couple issues. 1: Current alt can't properly charge the batt with the sound system I have installed; 2: This should also prevent my lights from dimming when I have my stereo turned up; 3: I'll have some extra amps to play with when I install more toys that will draw an additional electrical load.

I currently have the Big 3 upgrade completed with 1/0 gauge wire, a streetwires ANL fuse holder with a 175 amp fuse in line. I'm thinking about buying a different inline fuse holder. These types of fuses seem to be the biggest restriction in aftermarket installs. And the previous mentioned fuse holder should solve some of that. I might even get another one for the stRanger.

I bought the alternator from RJM Injection Technologies for $150.00. It's the 6G top mount version.

Dee, Ryan is a great guy to deal with, he'll probably make it right.

I don't doubt it. Besides, it's a $7.50 part on his site. So, hopefully I'll hear from him soon.

Is it any bigger than the stock Alternator in your truck?

I have no idea. From the looks of it being not attached, it "looks" bigger, but I'm sure it'll fit right in. I haven't taken it out to the truck to compare. I'm going to wait to see what Ryan @ RJM does about the busted stud extension

I think he just sent me another alt. Same model #. Should be here Wed next week. In the mean time... I swapped the new and OEM alt's, took pics and a vid.

Yup!

The OEM alt is light (weight wise) compared to RJM's.

Do you have to send this alternator back? Did ya notice a difference in anything with new new alternator hooked up and running?
