Red face 300 Intake manifold

Hey guys, Check engine light recently illuminated with a low air-fuel mixture in 1 and 2 bank. The engine is a 6cyl 300 with 30K total miles on the truck(1996).....Government surplus baby! My mech. diagnosed it as a intake manifold leak? yes, it has a rough idle. does anyone know where I can pick up some good information on how to do this, or common problems? I am also wondering what I should replace once I am in there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated :-) -Mike

I had a similar problem on my 87 302. I found that the EGR was stuck. I had pulled a vacuum on it to check the diaphragm with a friends advice not to exceed -5 psi. The diaphragm was good but the valve did not really move. I figured it was already broke so I hit it with -10 psi and it went ping and the truck has run fine since. I will probably replace the EGR anyway. This may not apply to you situation because you have MAF and sequential injection among other things but worth looking into.
