Default A little paint

Took a couple of pieces to work and had the painters blast them for me. They put a nice silver high temp base on the parts also. I painted the trans cover white, even though it's gonna be covered with carpet. Figured since the floor pan was white, why not. Originally was gonna use Old Ford Blue, but they only had 1 can at the parts store. So I settled for the Dark Ford Blue.

Having the intake manifold lightly blasted today so that I can paint it this afternoon. Think I'm gonna go with black,... maybe. I need to get myself in gear and get the engine and tranny out of the truck soon! Or this motor will be sitting around ready to go and waiting on me.

So I've had to step back and take a time out for a few weeks due to some back problems,...but I'm gettin' back after it. I rolled it over on the engine stand to remove the old oil pan. I spent some time getting all the old gasket material and gasket spooge(technical term) off the block. Then it hit me, the original oil pan looks a little bigger. It was. So my first day back on the job and I'm halted by my lack of observation from the beginning. But I had the original pan blasted today, so I'll paint it when I get home. Then I can turn it over and do the valve covers. I'm gonna give myself 1 more week before i start crawling around on the floor under the truck to remove drive shafts, transfer case, transmission and such. Definitely eager to get back to work on this thing.

I'm trying to git r done. It's so damn hot these days! Removed the old driveshafts, transfer case and transmission last weekend. Got my RTV from LMC a couple of weeks ago. May get slowed down some,....we just started working 6-12's at work and it supposed to go thru October. But I'll get there. More photos to come.

Default Progress

Okay,...after much delay, I've finally found some time and motivation to get back to work on this hanger queen I've got. I had to cut the radiator core support out due to all the rust on the passenger side, good ole battery. Battery tray, body mount and core support will all be new eventually. Pulled the 302 out yesterday morning. There was a lot of oil all over the front end. That puppy was spewing from every inch of that oil pan. Gave it a good pressure washing,(driveway is a mess now, wife was thrilled). I was a little concerned that the oil pan on the 351 wouldn't fit with belly being more towards the middle instead of the rear. Fit like a champ. So the 351 is in place, and now I just need to pick up a few more parts before I can rebuild the front. Gonna get a new slave cylinder for the clutch before I can put the tranny in. But I gotta stay on it now, this is the only truck I have now. Bad feeling when you need one, and it's in pieces.
