I believe this will stay on topic. I have a late 80's or early 90's JD RX 75. It smokes at start up but eventually clears up. The old thing mows like crazy but it's getting old. What if any would be a good additive to save it as long as possible? It has a Kawisaki balanced 9hp engine that runs smooth as silk. Oh yes, filled up and by a rough guess, my truck s getting 17 .something mpg in the city. whoo hoo!

1993 F150 XLT, 5.8 with E40D, Tow and Handling Package. Fully loaded from factory as truck was special order. Mods: Extang Snap on bed cover. 2" drop in rear, Six Liter Tuneup, NOS 66-72 Ford Air Foil Antenna, Planet Auto Red Ford Oval (grille). Diamond Clear Headlight Package, Bumper Guards, F350 Brake Conversion, Slotted/Drilled Front Rotors, 3 row alum radiator with Mk VIII elec fan. and much more to come!

if its an overhead valve engine, its just oil leaking down the valve stems after you shut it off and then the oil burns off when you start it
I would not worry about it and just keep on cutting

You shouldn't use multigrade in a small engine - they are built for straight 30 small engine oil. The only exception is in real cold weather - snow blowers, etc.
