Exclamation Weapon Tools of the Trade

Not all encompassing, but it's what I've used to upgrade my AR's.

First, a bench vise is mandatory when it comes to working on barrels and corresponding front sight blocks. Here's my contraption I've built to solve my problem of not having a work bench:

And for the conglomerate of the tools:
[/quote]

Starting from the top left and working clockwise...
Brass and Steel punch set.
Wheeler Deluxe Gunsmithing Screwdriver Set
Wheeler F.A.T Wrench
Roll Pin Set
DPMS Flipper (immediately left of Roll Pin Set) Used to insert into the mag well, or when flipped into the upper receiver, but you can't use it with the gas tube in place.
Below that is the DPMS vise block, has 2 removable pins to attache to the upper reciever for working on the barrel, handguards, or gas block. Has a cut out for the gas tube.
Below that is the DPMS Multi Tool.
The short black tool is a comp/flasher hider wrench, and a free float wrench (3 pins) that allows you to use a 3/8" ratchet.
The long black tool is specifically for YHM's free float tubes.
Wheeler Scope Mounting Kit
Hammer with brass and copper heads
Delta ring compression tool, for standard handguards... which I have none of... but before I upgraded, i had to use this to get the handguards off.

The flipper would be inserted and clamped in a vise:

And the vise block, again would be inserted into a vise:

And for webinator (again), here is a side by side comparison of my 2 AR's. Both have 16" barrels, one has a specter lengh handguard (just covers the gas block) and the other has a rifle length handguard (goes beyond the gas block):

Yes that's a barrel... 1x7" twist, 16" AP4 contour 5.56mm chrome lined, has 395 rounds through it, all factory ammo.

So, after the 2 "builds", I have come up with a few parts, and purchased a few parts over the years which haven't been utilitzed yet.

scope for the RedDot is a new item to me
thought about a RedDot for my Rem 742 .308,
do you think it would help for quick follow up shots at multipule Deer in a food plot ?

I'll stay with iron sights on that rifle

I know red dot's allow you to shoot with both eyes open. Also, they are usually parallax free, meaning the dot does NOT have to be centered in the "sight" to get a hit. I say sight because Aimpoint offer 0 magnification and centered, because you are looking through a tube. Red dot's help with situational awareness, allowing you to see more of what going on around the target. Here's what Aimpoint says in their Military/Law Enforcement Brochure:

Also, they do state in that same brochure about shootin' with both eyes open, situational awareness and faster speed on target compared to using iron sights or scopes.

I've never had the... chance to engage a person whilst using an Aimpoint. The only thing I've shot with it is a "crazy ivan".

i shoot with both eyes open. takes some getting used too but its nice when needing to stay on target for a minute before squeezing off. you dont get eye fatigue.

sounds like both would work well, with a up to shoulder shot see'en hows your cheek & head may not come to rest/aline on the stock
as in quick target aquisutation but still able to connect with a light recoil rifle and mutiaple shots this may be what I need (Red Dot) on the AR 10 / .308 I've seen

Sorry guys I gotta go .30 or more
