Default NASCAR thread

So, with all the talk in the chatbox about NASCAR, why not make a thread to discuss it, what's your thoughts, who's your favorite driver, what is a driver doing wrong?

Discuss anything NASCAR related here.

This is from July of 2009

what ever happened Jeremy Mayfield ???

NASCAR SUSPENSION
Poor Poor Jeremy; plans to scrap his team due to lack of funds. More money spent on legal fees due to drugs. Sponsers dont want him & other teams are scared to give him a ride. He signed over his car to his wife, as the legal battle continues due to him failing a drug test, that he tested positive for months ago, suspected amphetamine in his system.
Sounds kinda ironic that a race driver be suspended for Speed

Yea, he's been in deep crap since NASCAR suspended him indefinitely.

A.J. Almendinger actually ran his first race last weekend since he was suspended from NASCAR, drove the 51 for Phoenix racing. He had tested positive for Adderall, then went through NASCAR's rehab stuff and came back and is now racing!

For others, Matt Kenseth(now #17) is moving to Joe Gibbs Racing(JGR) and racing the #20 next year, whilst Joey Logano(now #20) is moving to Penske Racing and driving the #22 next year, do ya'll think any of the switches will do better next year moreso than they have this year?

I hate to see Kenseth leave Jack Roush and Ford for JGR and Toyotas but i can see what JGR will benefit. Logono hasn't quite lived up to the hype when he took the wheel after Smoke in the 20. The hope with him and Penske is to have him more involved with team operation and car setup and somehow make him a better competitor. Again, im not sure the expectations will be met. DGMW, I like the guy, i hope he makes me eat my words!! Lol. The driver I'm worried the most about is Lil'E. Especially now with this concussion ordeal. He took a big step back to what he's capable of this season and now this. IMO, if he don't pull a championship run next year he may be looking for a new ride and if he can't win with Hendrick equipment he can't win anywhere else. He can't live on "most popular driver" forever. Anyone else feel it's time for Gordon to retire? Hmmm, maybe i do because i never much cared for the guy.

I always questioned why Jr. didn't go with RCR, I mean his father and Childress were friends, why not go there?

Jr. is no longer in contention IMO, now its down to Keselowski, Bowyer, and Kenseth IMO. But time will only tell, there is only 5 more races anyway.

I don't think it's time for Gordon to retire, I do think it's time for him to find either (a) a new team(I'd like to see him and Smoke) or (b) have a sitdown with hendrick and get the 24 team back in the top. I never did much like Gordon..

Personally i think Jr is spooked with his concussions. He has already stated his disdain about restrictor plate races which kinda sucks because he does rather well at them. Naturally hes concerned about his life considering what happened to his dad. You've got to admit that his dads passing has had a great affect on his performance since then. Not to mention the BS with DEI and his step mom. It was nice to see them get along long enough to have Sr inducted into the Hall of Fame. Im sure there is still tension there.

Gordon and the rest of the Hendrix teams would be just fine. But Hendrix swapped every crew chief and team member they have around for the last 3 or 4 years to make junior something he is not and never will be.And all the teams have suffered. And I hate Chevrolet i am all FORD so i dont have a dog in the hunt on this topic.Just my opinion

As far as manufactures are concerned, i still dont think Toyota should be running in Nascar at all. I dont like it. Where Chevy, Ford, and Dodge are concerned, i dont really look at that aspect near as much as i do the driver. But i will admit i smile when i see a Ford runnin up front.
