Yes sir,....got some wiring issues to work out. This is my first non EFI motor, so I've got to figure out where to hook everything up. But it's getting there.

Default Clutch

Had a couple of hours to myself this weekend, and I used them wisely. Removed the portion of the wiring harness that goes to the auto tranny and the transfer case. My intent is to separate the transfer case portion and put it back in. Also installed the flywheel and the clutch. Completely forgot that I didn't have a pilot bearing laying around. Noticed while I was torquing the last flywheel bolt. After a trip to the parts store and $10 later,...I was back on track.

Got into some of the wiring yesterday,..found my oil pressure sensor, coolant temperature sensor, and my switched hot for the voltage regulator. Also replaced a couple of sections of wire loom that were dry rotted and broken real bad. Bolted a couple of accessory brackets on to take some measurements for belts, but also to see if the pulleys would like up. I'll post some pics later, but everything was looking good.

Here is a couple of photos of the brackets I bolted on for visual effect. I think I'm gonna live with the alternator bracket. The belt lines up perfectly. I'll just pull it back off and get it blasted so I can paint it. The A/C / Power steering bracket is the one I'm not 100% sold on yet. Not sure if the power steering pump will fit in there with the fuel pump. If it will, that'll just need to be cleaned a little and maybe touched up. Also gonna have fun finding a V-belt pulley that's the right size for the pump.

Had a few minutes before dinner last night, so I spent them wisely. Scraped all the old gasket material off of the coupling on the back of the transmission. Also had to get a few bolts yesterday,...without knowing exactly what they were. And I did good. The bolts that hold the clutch slave to the tranny are 8x1.25. And the bolts for the water outlet on the manifold are 5/16x18. Went ahead and bolted those couple of parts on. Moving right along.

So I had some photos of this engine when I pulled it from the boat it was in. Took some good photos of the wiring before I took it apart. Now I've let them vanish. I've been trying my best to find a wiring diagram with just a 2 wire distributor,...but all I keep getting are the 3 wire set ups. I'm pretty positive that both of these wires land on the coil in the picture. But I know something is missing. Not gonna let this slow me down at the moment, plenty more to do.

Had an epiphany,..looked up ignition wiring for the boat it came from, and the image below is what I found. It's exactly what I've been looking for. I'll hang it on the cabinet in the garage and give it a shot.
