Default transmission installation

OK I finally got the flywheel straighten out. I installed the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. Remove the clutch alignment tool bolted on the bell housing and TRIED to install the transmission. I bolted four 7/16"-14 All threads about six inches, long into the bell housing as an alignment tool ,I slide the transmission in place but, I get stopped approximately 1 1/2" away from mating the trans to the bell housing. I've worked on this for the past two days and am getting no where..... Any Ideas?

Hmm put trans in gear turn the rear tailshaft slow while pushing the tranny forward.
The splines is not lined up. I Always have a stick tranny placed in gear when installing them. If you can't turn the tailshaft use the driveline yoke.. my 2 cents.. orich

If what orich said doesn't work. Make sure the splines are correct and check to make sure the tranny splins aren't bured. Sometimes they get messed up when there out
