Default Transmission Sticking

New guy here...

Bought a 2003 F250 V10 Triton a few months ago. It's an automatic. Sometimes, when I shift into reverse, it sticks. If I hit the gas, the tires will bark and it will finally go. If I shift into drive, wait for it to shift and then shift into reverse, it works. It doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes. The other day, it wouldn't go into gear at all. I was parked on a steep uphill driveway and it would go into any gear. I had to hit the gas and left a burn out in my sister's driveway. Usually, have to get to 3,000 RPM before it will finally shift. Worried I'm doing more and more damage when I have to do that. Any insight?

I moved it for you.

Find someone with an OBD2 scanner that can read Ford transmission codes and see what it finds.

Is the fluid full, clean, and doesn't smell burnt? If there are no codes, MAYBE a full fluid exchange with a machine may help. Otherwise, it may be time for a rebuild.

Does the trans fluid look dark and smells burnt then something might be in valve body or filter might be clogged or could be pressure sensor there a number of things it could be. I need more info. Last fluid and filter change. Does it have any codes thrown. Is it getting really hot. Line pressure could be down. If someone had the truck before you might have done a bypass delete kit install or. What kind of transmission do you have also could be electrical. More info please. It would help with diagnosis.
