My truck runs just fine, but the engine is pushing 250K miles and I want to get a new engine in it so I don't end up broke down somewhere. Any suggestions? I plan on rebuilding the 351 from the bottom up, but I want to put in something smaller and newer.
OK CUBICHIO06
YOUR IDEA HAS BEEN EATING AT MY BRAIN -WHATS LEFT OF IT- SO I STARTED DIGGING REALLY DEEP INTO THE WHOLE UPDATE THE ENGINE THING DID IT ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO . AND JUST DID IT AGAIN OVER THE WEEKEND . A NEWER 5.4 UNDER 50.000 MILES 700.00 DOLLARS A NEWER TRANS FOR THE 5.4 1000.00 DOLLARS ECM 150.00 AFTER MARKET WIRING HARNESS TO GO FROM OLD TRUCK TO THE NEWER ENGINE AND TRANS COMBO AROUND 300.00 .........................................
SO THE END RESULT WOULD BE A 330 CUBIC INCH ENGINE THAT MAKES 320 HP AND A 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANS ....
THE BOTTOM LINE TOUGH TO BEAT AND THE 5.4 HAS PROVEN TO BE A REALLY TOUGH ENGINE I WOULD THINK ONE SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE 19 PLUS MPG NOT TO MENTION THE ENGINE BEING ALL STOCK . I AM NOW THINKING ABOUT SELLING BOTH OF MY 302 ENGINES AND DOING A SWAP .
AND ITS ALL YOUR FAULT .... LOL
