Smile marker/turnsignal mirror modification

did this cheap modification that only cost me about 8 bucks... had most of the parts laying around in the garage.

what you'll need:
some bondo
4 marker lights http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...A|GRP2044_____
some wire
butt connectors
filler primer
spray paint

anyways, i had a box of lights in the garage so all i had to buy was the primer... took about 4 hours to do, i did the bondo work first and started on the wiring while the bondo was curing...

heres what the light looks like

after bondo and some light sanding. an orbital with some 120 grit works well

after some more sanding, some primer, and painted with flat black...

heres a video of them in action

Dude, excellent! Now it's like the new 250/350 tow mirrors.

So, they flash alternately when you have you running (park) lights on, and at the same time when you have the running lights off? What does it do when you have just a left/right blinker on?

I was thinking about doin' something like that to my mirrors.

You know what the next question is right? How'd you wire them up? This thread is worthless without a write up!

for the running light, i tapped into the wire running down the A-pillar for the cab marker lights(easy) and wired it to the top light. and for the turn signal i tapped into the left ant right blinker circuits, and wired it to the bottom light, when the left blinker is on, only the left side blinks and vise-versa for the right side.

i already had the turn signal and ground ran as i previously installed turn signals on the mirrors. the first time i used LED marker lights but didnt like them as you couldnt see them in day light and you could only see them at 90 degrees. the incandescent lights you can see 180 degrees around and in day light

I liked that ASwaff when I read your original post. Just doesn't fit my truck. I'm looking for more of the factory way in the mirrors.

there is a small flexible LED strip that is great for stuff like last couple posts .

As for oem ones. I have couple sets I gathered over last 20 plus years . Saving them for a F150 crew build .All off EB broncos Been looking for them since new . I never saw any F series but EB and centurion conversion .

HA! HA! I'm a supporting member and you're not!
