Replaced the Bully hoop step on the passenger side last night. Also put a new gasket on the top of the carburetor for the air cleaner.

Pulled a spark plug to check on my jetting change,....baby was running lean! Went up 2 sizes on the jets and adjusted the idle air mix screws just a touch. Needed about a 1/4 turn to smooth it out just a little.

Without computer control, you usually have to rejet rich because of ethanol in the fuel.

Good to know GLC. I never factored in ethanol.

Started Saturday off right. Replaced the pinion seal, outer bearing, pinion nut and crush sleeve, and changed the gear oil.

I'm sure anyone who read the previous post here knew I made a mistake during that pinion seal change. I didn't change the outer bearing race at the same time. What a mistake That turned out to be. It didn't take long for that bearing to start howling when I would drive the truck. Therefore, I spent Sunday changing all the bearings and races in the rear end. Also had to buy shim kit from O'reilly's because I shattered one of the originals trying to put them back in. Also replaced everything in the rear brakes. It all runs nice and smooth now.

Well, after a good 6 or 7 months of running the 750 double pumper, I've decide to swap back to the 600 with vacuum secondaries. The bigger carb has been great when I take the truck on a ride and can stay at a constant higher speed. But it loads up too much when running it around town sitting at red lights and such. The 600 seems to just be smoother all around for the driving I do.

I haven't heard double pumper since the 80s when I was running a 750 on my 302

It's a good carb. I changed the factory fuel bowls out for some of the Holley bowls with the site glass on the sides. Truck ran really, really good at highway speeds. It's just not happy on a small cube engine in stop and go traffic.
