Is Your Parking Brake Assembly Rusted As Mine!!!
I own a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 Supercrew and i happened to be looking under the dash board when this parking brake assembly was rusted that caught my eye. Is this common for this part? I just can't believe how rusted it is for a 2013 with only 22000 miles on my truck. Do you think the warranty should cover this part as i still have bumper to bumper till 2015? My whole truck on the outside and under the truck doesn't even have any rust.

Looks pretty nasty, but does appear to be just surface rust. May not have been properly prepped at the factory. I have no idea if Ford would warrant this part or not since it "technically" hadn't failed or broke. I'd stop by the dealer ship and ask, can't hurt and they may replace it. But to answer you, no mine doesn't look anything near like this and my truck is 10 years old.

I bought it used off of used car dealer. I took the truck into our local dealership and showed the service person who could not believe how much it rusted. He even went to look at a same truck i had but it was a 2012 that was in getting an oil change and look at the assembly and it only had a couple of small rust spots on it. So he brought the service manger in to see it. I really didn't like his attitude. He just kept saying the part is made of steel and it rusts.I told him i realize that but not to this extent especially when its in the cab of the truck. After talking for about 45 min i was getting a little pissed off i said aren't you at least going to take pics of the part and send it in to ford to see if they will cover it under the warranty because i wasn't getting anywhere with him. Now i'll have to wait and see what Ford says.
