Default Speaker question

OK so I'm a huge music fan listen to Breaking Benjamin mostly(I throw a little Johnny Horton in the mix to) and have a fetish for all things stereo so onto the side story and finally question. I bought a Huge ass Kenwood speaker setup for a home stereo system it had the Woofer, 6" speaker, and 2" Tweeter for $5 at a garage sale(they all work BTW), the paper in the Woofer has been torn so it needs new paper(I believe the technical term is re-coning the speaker?) is this something I can do myself or do I need to take it to a local sound shop? I was quoted $45 from one to do it, so if I can do it I can save myself money just gotta buy the paper(or cone or whatever the hell it's called).

Just like most things, you can always attempt to do it yourself and sometimes the first attempt is successful, but if you want to use the speakers, I would just spend the $45 and have it done, but for the price you paid, if you just want some experience on re-coning, go for it!

I have a set of Infinity studio monitor series speakers that i paid like $1500.00 for the pair back in 1987.Awesome speakers the cones started to dry rot.Took them out of the cabinets and shipped them to the infinity headquarters and cost me about$80.00 for shipping and everything got them back reinstalled sounds just as good as the day i bought them.
