Default LED Question

As some of you know earlier this year I went through and changed out most of my standard lights with LED's. I've recently noticed that when I turn on all my main lights that the LED's I put in the lincence plate began to flash very rapidily when the truck is running. If I just turn on the lights, they look fine, but when the truck is running they almost appear to be strobe lights. I first noticed the left side bulb doing this, but now it has switched to the passenger side. I'm thinking it may be a ground issue, but am looking for ideas and suggestions too. I know a few of you have replaced many of your lights to LED, so let me know what may be happening. Thanks in advance!

Hey Pete, sounds like you are in need of some LED resistors.

I don't know, I installed these back in the early summer and all was ok for several months. Then one night I noticed the left side blinking and the right side ok, now it switched to the right side and it only does this when the truck is running. You can see the light flicker with the idle of the engine. It may be no big deal at all, but it is bugging me and I don't know if a cop would pull me over for this or not.

Actually, it sounds like you will need some capacitors to correct your LED issue. The LED's are getting brighter with your trucks electrical current. By adding a capacitor before the LED, it takes the varying current and smooths it out.

You may want to look into this some more. Contact an LED website. Let us know the outcome please.

No brother, I haven't. To be honest it isn't bothering me that bad. It will switch from side to side on which one blinks and sometimes they both do it. With all the time tied up hunting, a new job that demands way too much time and now these winter temps, I probably won't even fool with it till spring. Unless the law would pull me over and complain about it!
