Angry truck sounds like it is sucking air then stalling

My truck was running good, then it started stalling and there is a smell of gas. Does anyone have any ideas? It is a 1987 F150.

vacuum leak
the sound may be the brake booster

do you see any wet spots from a possible fuel leak

is your air filter installed properly

Try and narrow down what part of the engine bay is the hissing is coming from, and look for a hose disconnected\cracked\broke\etc. If you can't see it, try spray some carb cleaner in the area while the engine is running and see if it sputters, or if there is any change in the way it is running at all. Once that happens, the place you just sprayed is your vacuum leak. To check your brake booster, disconnect the vacuum line going to the brake booster and plug it off, then start the truck and see if it behaves even better.

I checked all of the vacuum lines that were on the diagram. They were all good. I have a peice that has two small vacuum lines and a place for a big line that is round and I have no idea where it goes? It is a loud sound of sucking air

Cool reply

no it is a small piece about the size of a quarter. I do not know exactly where the lines go on the vacuum tree. I was running fine until hubby put gas in air conditioner. The piece was hanging under passenger fender well it was not plugged up to anything.

Why do they say you need a new computer? If it's a computer out of a 1989 Mustang, it would need a full Mass Air swap, so I'm getting close to calling B.S. on your shop.

Booba, even with the ["motor and computer are out of a 1989 mustang"]

or do you thing they are tell here the computer is bad ?

in reading back what would that have to do with ['sucking air"] or ["was running fine until hubby put gas in air conditioner"]

might need to try another shop
