Default 1979 F150 Custom build thread

I didn't see a place to put in progress build threads, just a place for completed builds, so I thought I'd kick this area off by putting up my build thread. If their not allowed feel free to delete..

This is my 1979 F150 Custom, Specs are: Rebuilt 400 with less than 50k, Np435 4spd tranny, 9" rearend with a Nodular carrier and 3.00 gears, factory overload springs. The previous owner of my 1979 was the original owner who bought it from his dad's dealership in Feb 1979(made in Nov 1978) it originally had a 351m but I was told that it locked up so he bought a 400 and rebuilt it and put it in. He worked in the oil field and had modified the truck to have dual tanks, and used a manual valve to switch between the two(see pics below). It's been somewhat taken care of, when I bought it it hadn't been ran on the highway(and still hasn't) since Oct 2005, the plug wires were routed wrong, the crankcase was HEAVILY flooded with gas and it barely ran due in part to needing a tune-up and all the smog crap.

I don't have any pics of before I took the extruded running boards off, all I have is after shots:

.

The bed is in horrid condition and has seen better days:

Yes that's the rear tank filler and vent hoses you see in that last pic.

I found that the original carburetor was beyond being able to be rebuilt so I sold it to someone who said they could fix it, and bought another stock 2150 from a member on a bronco site I'm on.

This was after the last piece of running board came off:

So I got a wild hair the other day and pulled the front tank in preparation of getting the truck ready to pull the bed, I plan on replacing the bed with a bed from a factory dual tank truck so I can put my front tank back on, here is some shots of where the filler was on the bed and after the tank was out(I was told it was full of gas and had added a gallon to it when I first got it, but when I took it out all that was there was the gas I put in):

This ^^^ is the switch valve underside the left hose came from the rear tank, right hose came from the front tank, and the bottom hose goes to the fuel pump.

Filler neck removed^^

I'll get a pic of the tank tomorrow.

AC charge label if any one is interested:

Some engine shots:

I put on some new vacuum hoses today^^ the last shot is the PCV valve with a new vac hose.

I cleaned the ground up on for the Negative side of the battery on the block today:

Nasty grease^^.

Right now I've got a 351w starter in the truck, and it's on it's last leg, it is an original factory Motorcraft starter from an old 1979 F150 I found at the junkyard. If only I'd had my camera when the original one in my truck went out, first time I've ever seen a starter smoke....

And the tow hook on my 79:

There is a new junkyard in Tulsa that is called Mid Western on Lewis. Has a nice 78-79 Dentside in there with good body parts.

A bed in fairly good shape(dual tanks/ longbed) some rusty fenders, a good rust free cab, hell even the floor pans are rust free, a nice tailgate, 8.8 axle with 3.55 gears, nice back window, basically everything except engine and tranny. The doors and fenders, and hood are off of my Bronco.
