More power
Picked up a 93 f150 to get firewood and tow a 16 ft. raft around, due to low compression replaced heads w/rebuilt stock units and a cat back dual exhaust,I am disappointed with the power and mileage. I live at 5000 ft., truck has 33 in tires, 3.56 gears 5 spd manual, it is a 4wd. Looking for options to increase power and hopefully mileage, thought of 302 improvements, 351 swap or gear swap to 3.73, any info on these ideas would be helpful.

The first thing I'd do is a "sixlitre tuneup". I hate to send you to another forum, but I simply can't find our thread on this, so here it is:

A gear swap from 3.55 to 3.73 is not worth it, remember you have to do both axles. If you do want to do a gear swap, look at 4.10 or 4.56.

Thanks for the link, so with some upgraded ign. parts just jump the timing to 13deg. Did this help much? To take it further any one try the Edelbrock EFI manifold and larger B&D? throttle body then some headers.

You may even be able to bump the timing more than that - especially if you use high octane gas. If it pings, back it off.
Intake and exhaust mods really don't do that much.

Got the accel ign. parts in & installed and took the truck to town, aprox. 10 mi., on way back home noticed the temp gage near the top of scale but not overheating, did not here any pre-ignition, OAT <40 deg. Should I see a raise in temp?

No, that's not normal. What octane gas and what did you set the timing to? Did you set the timing at idle with the spout disconnected? Did you remember to plug the spout back in?
Retarded timing can make it run hot, not advanced timing.
How did it run?

Reg fuel, 14deg, at 5000 elev, timing set correctly, spout out @ idle spout in. Not alot of time on it yet, no hill climb yet. Need to drive it more and post again.
