It was really a 6 one/half dozen the other type of situation. And LaRue didn't have the exact flip ups I was looking at. If I wanted the standard style front sight, then yeah, I might have gone with LaRue. Plus, cost was a big thing for me.
EDIT: Yes, but LaRue also has their own.

If you got the money now and time... build it from scratch. If not, then it'll just be a build in progress.

Thanks, Thanks, and Thanks. I'm gonna have to charge you for copying....
Yup, optics thus far have cost more than my rifles. Granted, my .308, which I'm about to post info about next.. cost just a bit less than the scope.

well i'm taking my time with it. i'm not going to rush this build so building it how i want from scratch might be the better way to go.
i also found what i think i'm going to etch into the side of the AR lower. check it out, what you think?
oh and i have access to an etcher if you ever make your way up here and would like a little etch'n done on urs. if your into that sorta thing anyways.

DoubleDee's AT&T rifle
So, I've been thinking about getting this particular rifle for quite some time before I actually bought it. So, when I found a store that could get it for... well... cheaper than anywhere I've seen, I ordered it just before Thanksgiving last year. The guy had it in his store within 5 days.
Fresh out of the box (still had the new rifle smell):
And after adding a nice scope, a butt stock accessory and a bipod:
$ 1129.00 Cost of the rifle
$ 1219.92 Leupold (47634) Mark 4 LR/T M3 10x40mm MilDot
$ 117.74 Leupold (57398) Mark 4 30mm Med Rings
$ 95.66 Leupold (59235) Mark 4 base w/20 MOA slope
$ 109.32 Leupold (62880) Mark 4 40mm ARD (anti reflective device)
$ 1482.64 Optics total
$ 79.99 Harris BRM1A2 Bipod
$ 22.49 Galati Rifle Shooter Stock Pack
$ 2714.12 Total
This is the rifle that made the 300 yd shot @ a hair over MOA. See:
just in case you missed it on the first page.

That etching design is cool. I need to figure something out to personalize mine. I'll wave the copy charge.... for an etching? Not a fair trade I know...
Are there any limitations to etching?
Maybe I'll etch one with a really large ( . Y . )
