Default Starting Problems

Hello, i have purchased a 1992 Ford f250 4x4 with the 5.8L AT... awesome truck has 151.00 original miles ext cab and manual 4x4 in the floor... BUT, every time i go to start it... it cranks and cranks but you can take a air intake hose off and spray just a lil bit of startin fluid and it fires right up and this has to be done every time the truck is started... and it idles fine and some times it goes haywire and idles really high... CAN ANYBODY POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION BEFORE I GET ON A GUESS GAME.???

351 or 460? How about some specs on the truck itself?

comprehension, he states its a 5.8L; slow down

on a new to you Truck start with new fuel filter
cut the old one in half, may give a clue as to the condition of the tank

When you first turn the key (before it cranks) can you hear the fuel pump relay click\shut off? Whats your fuel pressure at that same point too? Also, pull codes... http://oldfuelinjection.com/?p=13

My money is on fuel pressure regulator though
