Default Running a MSD ignition bypass a ICM?

I posted a topic a while back and the problem pointed to the ICM, well just now getting around to replacing it and was wondering since I am running a MSD ignition does that bypass my ICM?

Could it be that my MSD is bad?

I went ahead and just replaced ICM after unplugging it and tried to start truck with no success. So I guess that answers my own question that the ICM still does something.

Since I replaced it, and no problems with the truck cutting out while driving or turning.

It was tough getting the screws out that were holding it to the heat sinks. If anyone ever has this problem its a 7/32 deep socket and doesn't fit well in the little holes but it worked.

Thanks

Okay, thought the truck was fixed and yesterday it did it again! I was driving and it just cuts out or dies. Once on side of the road if I let it sit for a few minutes boom thing starts up without a miss. Don't understand. Could I have gotten a bad ICM?

Thanks

So as I was reading Aswaff400 post about distributor I thought I would check the wires out and I disconnected the coil wire everything looked ok. As I was pushing down on the wires one of them made a snapping sound like it wasn't pushed down all the way. It wasn't the coil wire just one of the 1-8 wires. Could this be the problem I thought it would miss real bad not just completely shut down vehicle. Correct me if I'm wrong.

When I get home I'm going to check out the distributor cap, rotor, and meddle around some more. Who know what I will find.

Thanks Jsoko for the read. I am going to test my ICM. So I also replaced my distributor and left the truck running for about 15min and no problems. I will see what happens tomorrow.

Angry Flat Tire

When it rains it pours not only is the truck turning off while driving and has a hole in a hose/pipe that I can't seem to identify. Go outside and my worn down BFG All Terrains have a leak. Flat to the rim, they are done for, at least that one, so now looking at buying 4 new ones. Good for me BFG are currently offering a discount . Had to start the back up. Just glad it stopped raining!
