Default codes/no codes

the truck : 1989 f250 300I-6 4 speed manual (no A/C).
the symptoms : failed emissions and engine misses while under load.

the codes : KOEO = code 67 , then 67 flashes one more time.

: Continuous codes = 14, 33, then 14 and 33 flash again.

: Engine running codes = i get the 3 flashes to indicate a 6 cyl.
engine, then i crank and return the wheel as instructed
but after that i get NO more codes.

would appreciate any input that you may have. i am particularly curious as to why all 3 codes repeated themselves during the same test.

thanks.

They always repeat themselve's, that's how the ECM is setup in case you missed the codes the first time.

KOEO 67= Neutral Safety Circuit Failure, I'm guessing Neutral Safety Switch is bad or it's arching somewhere.

CM 14= Two or more successive erratic Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) pulses occurred, resulting in a possible engine miss or stall. PIP sounds as if it's bad, I've also had it be the TFI-IV module.

CM 33= EGR valve opening not detected. Either the EGR Valve is bad, or the solenoid on top is IIRC.

no surprise on getting a code for the neutral safety circuit failure . i had noticed that the previous owner had dis-connected that switch entirely, so i re-connected it but that didn't make any difference; could still start the truck without depressing the clutch pedal. he must have by-passed it somehow, along with the ignition switch (a keyed remote ignition switch is wired into the dashboard). i am going to have to figure out what he did to bypass these 2 switches ... the neutral safety switch is no big deal but it's annoying to have to use TWO keys to start the truck.

thanks very much for your helpful info !

the emission testing must be a PITA
but I understand why they want to keep the air clean in the Great White North
