Default Hey Guys

It's been a dream of mine to fix up a truck so I can
1.) use it to do work around the house (I live in the deep words)
2.) work with my kids so they can someday drive it
3.) have some fun an do some muddin' with my boys
4.) learn how to fix vehicles

I finally found an old 1995 XLT that was for sale near my house. It was a great deal ($500) but it has over 200k miles. I don't have a lot of experience (barely any) but I am willing to learn.

I'm hoping you guys can give suggestions about where I should start. It's a Michigan rust bucket right now but I want to change that :)

I have the same model engine is a 5.8. I'm from Western mass so my truck has a lot of rust. I'm replacing everything slowly starting with most important or as things break. I dropped my transmission pan right after I got it. It was vary clean so I'm in high hope the engine and Transmission are solid. I replaced both transmission lines and cleaned everything changed the filter and filled it up. I drained the torque converter so I put about 16 quarts of atf in. I I've done rear shackles and brackets on both sides. I had to do a tps and a power steering pump. Replaced the vacuum canister. Rotors calipers and pads. Tie rod center link. There's alot to do there is about 4 hours of frame and under body welding. All the work is well worth it. Front ujoints and all 4 shocks some serious cosmetic body rust but do what needs to be done first. Make it safe then make it look good.
