Yeah, I went to my insurance company and told them the estimate was stupid. Their policy will only allow 50% of the estimate to be paid to me. What a freakin racket the bodyshops and insurance companies have going on.
Don't forget you have to pay the deductable as said before. I think my point here is when you go to the bodyshop tell them it's coming from your pocket. It may be less than your deductable to get that damage fixed.

And 10 times out of 10, they are more willing to work with you and your budget. if they don't have to deal with the hassle of an insurance adjuster telling THEM how much it will cost, then they appreciate it that much more.

ha no. i wish, i get pulled over all the time so alot of cops know ME haha

im not going to straight up lie to my ins. company. but i dont want just two panels on my truck painted leaving all the other ones still all scratched and chipped up. ive heard of people getting their whole vehicles repainted when only a couple panels get messed up cus the paint will not match etc.

i also just got done reviewing my ins. info and apparently my liability coverage is already supposed to go into affect on the 10th, so i need to get this done ha.

You're actually talking about 2 different things here. Most of the time, when they blend the body parts together, they actually detail and compound the whole vehicle for that reason. It's worked into the estimate.

Their rep is on the line too. They don't want you driving around with a fender and door that looks brand new and the rest looks like a POS. They will compound and buff the entire truck. They are not going to fill in dents or any major body work not associated with the direct damage. But the entire truck will match.

Is that all you were worried about?

yeah, but my paint can only be brought back so much.

it has the 01 paint defect where the basecoat cracks and spiders under the clear coat in a couple spots on every panel, the PO hit something on the drivers bedside which dug in deep since its a composite material and my drivers door and fender are covered in deep rock chips.

You need to visit a least four bodyshops, and you will get your options and find the one shop you like. Like 2004FX4F150 said thier reputations are at stake and will work with your budget. I had a 96 Safari Van that had parking lot dings and light scratches I wanted fixed went around to different shops and got everything from half paint jobs to strip down and repaint but the last guy I talked to must have been 65 a real old timer look it over and said why dont you go to the Dent King (they can remove small dents, car dealerships use them alot) get all the dents removed a get it buffed. Wow that was honest! That what I did $1000. total.
