Default Ignition control module

Hi everyone. I have a problem I'm hoping to get help with. I have a 96 f 250 with 7.5 gas engine. Today I parked my truck, ran into a store about 5 minutes. Came out and when I turned my key my engine didn't turn but smoke came out from under hood. I found that the ignition module, mounted on my fender well had burnt up. I went and got a new one and as soon as I turned the key, same thing. Burned up the new one. What could cause this?

I've moved your thread to the appropriate forum.

Off the top of my head, I'd say you have a dead short to ground somewhere in the ignition system. Time to break out the electrical diagrams and multimeter.
