Default Since I'm askin questions

The wife's 98 expy keeps blowing the fuse for the dash lights. It seems to happen only when it rains, so I checked the most logical place, inside the hatch wiring grommet (because it's outside of the weatherstrip and the bending of the wires from opening the hatch and such) but it all looks good. Anyone else run into this?

A bug in the electrical... To many diffrent things could be your problem here. What else goes out with the lights? Aftermarket Radio?

I would start by checking all the grounds.

Stock radio. Everything is stock and unmolested. How would a ground cause a wet short? If it got wet it would short to ground anyhow. I thought ground issues caused an 'open' which wouldn't blow the fuse, just make it not work.

damn gremlins...

Tell her not to drive in the rain at night. Stupid question, did the check engine light go on at all, even if for a split second? Wiring issues are so hard to find sometimes. Another stupid question, what is the status of the battery? Last stupid question... I promise... have you inspected the fuse box under the hood?

unplug and plug back in all fuses & relays under hood & inside
when doing so inspect for water or corrision on the spades
then when its out check socket with a flash lite for same
let us know what you find doing this

also look at all wiring connectors under the hood at firewall & fender wells
unplug them also & check
then look at where the wire goes into the plug around the tape

As far as the status of the battery-It works? I dunno it hasn't given me any issues. No check engine light. Underhood fuse box shows no sign of corrosion. Blown fuses in my experience mean a short to ground. And in station wagons and suv's 99% of the time it's in the wiring between the body and the hatch where the wires have to make repeated extreme bends. So that's why I guess I'm being short sighted about what the issue is. It should be there- but it isn't. If i did have a check engine light how would it be related?
