On 2 wheel drive trucks.
If you have a 4R70W Transmission you have two sensors. The one on the tail shaft is the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor used only by the PCM Computer. Then you have the one on top of the rear end in the center, the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) for the Speedometer (PSOM), ABS, and speed control. This one is all so called the DSS and the ABS sensor by some auto parts outlets and Ford dealers.

If you have a E4OD Transmission then you just have the one on the rear end, the VSS sensor. It is used fro the Speedometer (PSOM), Speed Control and the ABS system.

The PSOM also sends information to the PCM Computer for shifting the transmission in both transmission types.

You may also have problems inside the rear end, bad wiring or a bad PSOM causing this problem.

On a 4X4 there is also a speed sensor inside the Transfer Case Assembly but it is only used by the Shift Control Module.

Not sure if your Truck has a VSS on the transmission. It does have a rear axle speed sensor located on the top of the rear differential housing itself. Access is very simple. Simply disconnect the two-wire electrical connector to it and remove the one 10mm or 13mm bolt that secures it to the top of the housing and remove.
Hope this helps.
it is on the tail shaft of your transmission.you screw it all the way in and back it out one half turn and adjust the jam nut

The Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module (PSOM) receives input from the Rear Anti-Lock Brake Sensor (RABS) mounted on the rear axle differential. The PSOM sends this input signal information to the Speed Control module and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
If something is loose it wont work , Check all connections, look for dirt left in a connector, it wont hurt to spray contact cleaner in there to flush anything out
